Executive Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to Tor Bridge Primary School, where children gain a lifelong love of learning.
At Tor Bridge Primary School, we are proud to have introduced an ambitious, knowledge-based, vocabulary-rich, curriculum which inspires our children to be confident and kind citizens of the future who aspire to… ‘Go out into the world and do well. But more importantly go out into the world and do good’.
It is our belief that children learn best in a safe, secure and friendly environment that helps each child to develop as an individual learner and achieve their full potential. We work incredibly hard to provide an educational setting based on these principles and feel sure that all children will be happy and thriving; providing a village feel to our inner-city school.
Our high quality and committed staff provide a first-class educational experience for our children. We aim to develop very positive and productive relationships with our community and friends. Our ‘Open Door’ policy ensures that there is always one of our team available to answer any questions or solve any problems that may develop.
Our curriculum is engaging, innovative, built on first-hand experiences and celebrates all curriculum areas, helping to ensure that our children develop the knowledge and skills they need to excel, and become creative and curious citizens that are required to achieve academic excellence at secondary school and beyond.
Our aim at Tor Bridge Primary School is to develop a positive attitude towards speaking and listening. Oracy is the ability to express yourself clearly and communicate with others effectively through spoken language. It is the strategy for learning to talk and learning through talk. We recognise that it is a partnership between home and school which encourages each child to have a confidence in their own voice.
Tor Bridge Primary School pupils are innovators, builders, artists and improvers. They are risk-takers, problem solvers and writers. As pursuers of excellence, they aspire to be the very best they can be in whatever paths they decide to take.
Tor Bridge Primary School was deemed to be requiring Special Measures in October 2018. In January of 2019, Ernesettle Community School (judged to be Outstanding by Ofsted in November 2019) was appointed as the National Support School responsible for supporting the journey to providing a first-class education for the children and community. In April of 2019, the Multi Academy Trust where Ernesettle Community School is the lead school, The Inspire Multi Academy Trust (South West), was appointed as the sponsor for Tor Bridge Primary School’s academisation. Tor Bridge Primary School officially joined The Inspire Multi Academy Trust (South West) on 1st April 2021 and continues to flourish under the new leadership.
A very warm welcome awaits you here at Tor Bridge Primary School and I look forward to meeting and working with you and your family in the future.
Mr. Aaron Meredith
